Who are you?

Who are you? Well here, let me help you out with that.

You could be either male or female, as someone with your qualities are not gender specific.

Who are you?

You have hopes and dreams, as do most, but yours are for a better life.  Not to be rich per se, but to be happy and you feel that getting control of your finances is key to that happiness.

Who are you?

You might be a “Type A” personality or even more toward the sheepish side, but it doesn’t matter because your financial goals have you taking charge, at least to the point of finding answers.

Who are you?

You are the type that refuses to give up, even when things look to be their worst.

Who are you?

You don’t like to ask for help, it’s not in your nature, even though you don’t think there is anything wrong with doing so.

Who are you?

You dedicate yourself to your family or your closest friend or partner.  You make sacrifices for them that you would never ask them to do for you.

Who are you?

You are the “glue” in your closest relationships, even though you question your own abilities.

Who are you?

You take charge in the face of indecision, because you can’t stand to have it go on.

Who are you?

You know things need to change but are fearful with taking big steps.  Mainly because you’re afraid of things getting worse instead of better.  Baby steps are easier to control.

Who are you?

You are tired of reading my “interpretation” of who I think you are.

See, the bottom line is this.  We are not that different.  There are a lot of places that you could go for financial advice, major corporations that thrive on helping you with your finances.  I know because I have several friends that work for them.

Yet, you are here.

There is nothing wrong with that, in fact, it is a good thing.  I’m glad you are here, thanks for coming.  The difference is that you are seeking answers, not help.  You’ll take help, especially if it comes in the form of information, but you won’t go to those other places.  That’s just not for you, not yet you say.

The thing you need to remember, is that sometimes it just gets difficult, but not impossible.  I’m often faced with my own issues but I’m still tasked with holding it all together.  Not just for me, no, but for the others.  In my case, my family.  If it was just for me, well I couldn’t promise how it would go.  But having the responsibility that you have placed on yourself to be the “glue” makes you pull things from places that you didn’t know you kept things, haha.  You muster up courage in the face of adversity, citing the old adage, “whatever doesn’t kill me, yada yada yada”

They say that adversity builds character.  Character I’ve got.  I’m overflowing with friken character.  If only I could sell some of my character to help pay down the bills.

Who are you
Adversity builds character

Listen, I’m not going to ramble on about this but there something that you should know:

YOU’RE DOING A GOOD JOB

I know you’re laughing right now because you’re not feeling it.  That’s why I just told you.  You needed to hear it.  The simple fact that you are here reading this, looking for answers, means that you are trying to reach that goal, accomplish those dreams.  Every single step you take, even the ones in the wrong direction, is progress.  The only way to fail is to not take any steps, to freeze in place, and just “hope” that someone or something comes to rescue you.

But that’s not you.

You are here.

And you’re not alone.

Dave

I'd love to hear what you think
